Asian handicap is a combined type of bet that combines two bets with the same amount and with the closest values of soft and hard handicap. In this case, the odds for both bets will be the same. For this, a quaternary value is taken, that is, 0.25 or 0.75. For example, if we are talking about the Asian handicap of 0.25, then it combines two bets – with a handicap of 0 and 0.5. If we are dealing with 0.75, then it will combine the handicap of 0.5 and 1.

As an example of an Asian handicap, betting f1 (-1.5) in the Arsenal-Everton match means that the first team, that is, Arsenal, will start the match with a minus handicap of one and a half goals. Everton gets a conditional advantage in these one and a half goals. For the player who made the bet, the game will start with a score of -1.5:0. The bet will play if Arsenal can win by two or more goals. Imagine that the game ended 3:1. We add the handicap and get 1.5:1 – taking into account the handicap, Arsenal won, which means that the bet passed.

Reminder

Soft handicap – integer values, for example, 1, 2, -1 and so on. In this case, there is a possibility of a refund if there is a draw as a result of applying the handicap. Hard handicap – non-integer values, half, for example, 1.5, -1.5, 2.5. There is no return option in this case.
So, the Asian handicap takes the two nearest soft and hard handicap values and calculates them with the same coefficient. The bet amount is divided into two equal parts. In fact, we get two rates from one. And then several outcomes are possible:

  • win on both bets; return on the first and victory on the second; return on the first and loss on the second; loss on both.
There can be no return on both rates, since one of them is hard.

Are the Asian Handicap and Asian Handicap the same thing?

When a novice player studies the topic of odds on the Internet, he has to smoke a lot, even if the person is a non-smoker. The problem is that there is no common terminology when defining the types of bets with odds. I suggest keeping it simple and treating handicap and handicap as synonymous, which they are, in fact.

Based on this, the Asian handicap and the Asian handicap are the same thing. There is also a European handicap (handicap), which differs from the Asian brother in three outcomes and no return. An example of a European handicap for a match between Liverpool and Tottenham:

Handicap -1 on Liverpool – to win the bet, Liverpool must win with a difference of at least two goals. Handicap -1 for Liverpool vs +1 for Tottenham – requires Liverpool to win exactly one goal. Handicap +1 on Tottenham – Tottenham need not lose.
Asian handicap (handicap), in turn, is of two types: single and double. Single is a handicap with numerical values 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and so on. There are integer and fractional single odds. Fractional handicap bets can be settled as a loss or a win. In the case of integer Asian odds, a return is also possible – the calculation of the bet with a coefficient of 1.0. This option is provided when, taking into account the handicap, there will be a draw.

Double Asian Handicap is a more complex type, where the bet consists of two parts. For example, f1 (-1.25) means that two bets are formed: f1 (-1) and f1 (-1.5) – adjacent values of the selected Asian handicap.

A real vinaigrette of concepts has appeared on the Internet. Only the term “European handicap” was not affected. European handicap is sometimes referred to as Asian values and a half (0.5, 1.5, 2.5). By Asian handicap, they mean exclusively double Asian handicap, then the very concept of “Asian handicap” refers to integer (1, 2, 3) and quarter (0.25, 0.75, 1.25) handicaps.

Asian Handicap 1 Asian Handicap 0

The most popular Asian handicap outcomes are handicap zero, plus one, and minus one. Below you can see how they are calculated on the example of the Valencia-Getafe match.

What does Asian handicap +1 mean? A bet that is usually placed on the underdog of the match. In our case, this is a f2 (+1) bet on the game Valencia – Getafe. The player will win if Getafe does not concede to Valencia. That is, we will be satisfied with a draw or a victory for the guests. If Valencia wins by exactly one goal, there will be a refund. If the hosts win by two or more goals, the player will lose. What does the Asian handicap -1 mean? The bet is usually on the favorite of the match. To win the f1(-1) bet, it is required that Valencia defeat the opponent with a difference of at least two goals. Valencia win by one goal – return, any other result – loss of the bet. What does Asian Handicap 0 mean? A bet to win with insurance in case of a draw. We make a f1 (0) bet on our meeting between Valencia and Getafe. We will win if the hosts win by any score. A draw will result in a refund, while an away win will mean a loss of money.
